Over the last week, we have seen some pretty hefty amounts of snow here in the UK. Of course, other places in the northern hemisphere have too, but we’re lucky to get it in the UK twice in one year.

Winter weather strips the skin of its natural moisture barrier due to its excessive drying from cold winds, harsh winter sun (when it decides to come out!) and drier air. These conditions cause the top layer of skin to dry and flake off making skin chaff and itch, overall becoming more sensitive.

As I commute to work every weekday now, which I love, I need to prepare my skin especially for the cold weather we experience in the UK. I’ve tried various moisturisers, creams and serums in order to combat my dry skin. However, Defensil have been in touch and I’ve been trying their Alpine Rescue Serum. The product is a natural dry skin rescue serum which was developed in the Swiss Alps for people with dry skin living at high dry and sunny altitudes with very dry skin. Clinically proven by Swiss scientists, it helps lock in moisture for winter skin prone to dryness and flaking.

Typically in the winter, I suffer from dry skin across my T zone as well as my eyebrows (one of the weirdest places). The serum is clinically proven by Swiss scientists to

help lock in moisture to prevent dryness and flaking, which I can vouch for. It does this through its formulation of two key natural ingredients – a concentrated extract from Cardiospermum seed and cold pressed Echium Oil. These two ingredients have been shown to stabilise and regenerate the skin barrier to act effectively against itching caused by dry, chapped or flaking skin.

Since receiving this serum, I’ve been using it twice daily on areas of my skin which need it most as well as combining it with my new Molton Brown lightweight moisturiser to ensure my face has all round protection from the cold temperatures.
